These four days package is an exciting safari that will give you an opportunity to explore Semuliki national park which is located in western Uganda at the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. During the safari in the park, you will be able to participate in interesting activities like chimpanzee trekking where you will spend time with the endangered chimpanzees in their natural habitat, game drive where you will have great wildlife views elephants, waterbucks, Uganda kobs,warthogs, buffaloes, boat cruise on river Semuliki up to Lake Albert where you will be able to view hippos, also visit sempaya hot springs.

Detailed itinerary                                                                                             

Day 1:- Transfer to lodge of choice

Pick-up and transfer to a lodge of your preference, upon arrival at Entebbe international airport on the first day of the safari, you will be welcomed by our driver and a tour guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Semuliki national park which is located in western Uganda in Bwamba county, Bundibugyo District on Uganda’s border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. On the way you will have stop over at the equator to take photos and buy souvenirs and then proceed with the journey with en-route lunch in fort- portal town. After lunch you will continue with the journey which will be filled with great views of the beautiful great scenry, traditional home steeds, Rwenzori Mountain ranges, Tea plantations among others. Upon arrival in the park, you go for an evening game drive where you will be able spot animals like buffalos, Elephants, waterbucks Warthogs among others. After the game drive you will drive to check in to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and afternoon boat cruise

Morning game drive: After an early breakfast on this  day, you will meet up your driver |guide who will take you out into the wilderness for a morning game drive, luckily you may be able to view several game both big and small at one of their active times of day, like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks, Uganda kobs, duikers grazing in the open plains with dew, if youare lucky you will be able to spot predators like leopards, hyenas before they go back to their hiding areas, view different bird species, primates like baboons, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys among others. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch you will go for an amazing boat cruise which is done along river Semuliki up to lake Albert, the boat ride takes about 2 hrs right and gives you an opportunity to see animals like hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, view elephants’ buffalos, warthogs along the water banks, view water birds like the rare shoebill storks, red billed dwarf horn bill, cormorants, kingfisher, fish eagles bee- eaters among other. After the boat cruise you will return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and hot spring tour

Chimpanzee Trekking: After an early breakfast on thisbeautiful third day of the tourin Semulilki national park you will meet up your driver |tour guide to transfer you to the park headquarters about the rules and regulations and expectations of chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a park guide who is well conversant with chimpanzee trails and then start trekking in the forest which would last  about 30mins to 4hrs depending on where the chimpanzees are located. During trekking you will able to spot different bird species, as well as a vibrant array of primates like grey cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, view different plant and tree species among others.  You also get the chance to spot many palearctic species of birds from Europe and Asia. For ardent bird lovers you can record up to 300 bird species in the Albertine rift per day.

Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend 1 hour with them in their natural environment where you will be able to learn about their behaviors, habits watch them carry their daily activities like feeding, playing, breastfeeding each other among others. After the one hour with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up your driver and tour guide to transfer to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch you will go to visit the Sempaya hot springs which is the most attraction in the park. The hot springs is divided into two; male and female hot springs which are quite an interesting spectacle as it boils at around two meters high. On the way to the hot springs, you will pass through the forest where you will be able to spot primates like grey cheeked mangabey,red tailed monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, view birds like yellow throats tinker bird, blue breasted kingfishers, honey guide greenbul, among others. The water has high temperatures which rise up to 100 degrees Celsius and can be used to boil eggs, green bananas, and prepare tea. After the springs tour you will return to the lodge for evening relaxion, dinner and over night.

Day 4: Departure to Kampala

On the last day of the 4 days Semuliki national park safari you’ll have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver | tour guide who will then transfer you to Kampala with an en-route lunch in Mbarara town. After lunch you will proceed to Kampala where you will be dropped off at Entebbe airport for your departure flight or dropped off at the hotel.
